'Good medium red. Sauvage aromas of currant, leather and fresh blood. Fat, sweet, ripe and full. Expressive flavors of spice, leather and pepper. The grenache component: Medium red. Reduced aromas of smoke and game. Firm and not hugely sweet; distinctly peppery. Today the tannins are firm, even a bit tough. Hard to assess now, but seems more austere than the 2000 at the same stage.'
