'Medium red. Soil-driven scents of dark raspberry, strawberry, dried flowers and smoky underbrush; less black in its fruit character than the Clos Vougeot. A bit lower-toned on the palate than the Clos Vougeot, but the wonderfully sweet, impressively concentrated red fruit flavors are enlivened by bright acidity and lifted by mineral and orange zest nuances. Much more closed on the back end, finishing with substantial tongue-dusting tannins. Anne Gros told me she nearly always enjoys drinking her grand crus between 5 and 15 years after the vintage.'
