'Opaque ruby. Sexy, highly perfumed aromas of ripe black and blue fruits, Indian spices and candied violet. Fleshy and concentrated but lively as well, offering silky boysenberry and blackberry flavors that are sharpened and lifted by juicy acidity. Silky tannins come on late and add grip to the long, mineral-driven finish. I had the chance to taste the 2009 version of this wine at the end of my visit and Perret told me that it clocks in at 15% natural alcohol, a fact I'd never have guessed given the wine's vibrancy and focus. It's starting to hit its stride but is in no danger of sliding off the cliff any time soon.'
